Nagarjuna Hydro Energy Private Limited (NHEPL)

NHEPL is environmentally sustainable small hydro project implemented by Nagarjuna Hydro Energy Private Limited. This project generates power by utilizing the hydrological resource of Balekallu Hole River, a tributary of river Nethravathi. The plant is located near Maranhalli Village, Sakaleshpura Taluk, Hassan District, Karnataka, India, about 252 km from Bangalore. The plant commissioned its operations during 2010 and supplies clean power to the Government of Karnataka through Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) Grid.
NHEPL project is designed with 123 m head and 1.5 km Head Race tunnel. Turbines (2x7.5 MW) and Generators of the plant are supplied by Andritz, New Delhi and WEG, Brazil respectively. Planning & Designing consultancy works of the project were provided by Bangalore Hydro Engineers & Consultants (BHEC), Bangalore. The civil construction works carried out by Nechupadam Constructions, Kerala and Hydro Mechanical Works implemented by General Mechanical Works (GMW), Baroda.
NHEPL project is certified in Quality Management by URS Certificate Ltd, UK for ISO 9001:2008 and also certified in Operational Health and Safety (OHSAS) 18001:2007 (Environment Management). “NHEPL is financed by the State Bank of India (SBI), Bengaluru.” NHEPL has signed a long-term PPA with KPTCL, Karnataka.
